Privacy Policy
This page explains, in plain language, what HireOn AI collects about you, why, and what you can do about it. If anything here is unclear, email us — see Contact below.
What we collect
- Account info — your name, email, and profile photo, from Google sign-in.
- Profile & resume — anything you add to your HireOn profile: headline, bio, experience, education, skills, and the resume text you paste or upload for matching and tailoring.
- Posts, comments & messages — content you post to the feed, comments, reactions, and direct messages you send other members.
- Usage data — basic technical data (like IP address) used only for rate-limiting abuse and debugging errors, not for tracking or advertising.
How we use it
Strictly to run the service: matching your resume against jobs, showing your posts and profile to other members per your visibility setting, delivering messages and notifications, and improving the product based on what's actually breaking or confusing. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Storage & security
Data is transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS) connections and stored in a managed PostgreSQL database. Uploaded images go through a Cloudflare R2 bucket. No storage system is 100% risk-free, but we don't do anything exotic with your data beyond what's needed to run the app described above.
Cookies & sessions
We set one HTTP-only session cookie after you sign in with Google, used purely to keep you signed in. We use no advertising cookies. Analytics tools that may set their own cookies or local storage load only if you accept them — see Analytics & error monitoring below.
Analytics & error monitoring
Analytics only with your consent. When you first visit, a banner asks whether you accept analytics. Until you click “Accept analytics”, Microsoft Clarity and PostHog are not loaded at all. If you click “No thanks”, they stay off. Your choice is saved in your browser’s local storage (not a cookie) so we don’t ask on every page.
- Microsoft Clarity — records how pages are used (clicks, scrolling and session recordings) so we can see what is confusing or broken. Microsoft Privacy Statement.
- PostHog — product analytics: page views and a few named events, such as clicks on sign-up buttons, viewing the sample match, uploading a resume (we send only the number of skills found, not the resume) and viewing job results. PostHog Privacy Policy.
Changing your mind. Click to bring the banner back, then choose “No thanks”. Analytics will not load on later pages. To remove anything these tools already stored, clear this site’s cookies and site data in your browser.
Error monitoring (Sentry). We use Sentry to catch errors in the website and on our server, so we can fix crashes. When something breaks, Sentry receives technical details such as the error message, the page address and browser type, plus performance timings for a sample of about 20% of page loads and requests. We configure Sentry not to send personal data by default. Sentry does not depend on the analytics banner and does not set cookies. Sentry Privacy Policy.
Your rights
You can edit or remove most of your content (posts, profile fields, resume) directly in the app at any time. To request a full account deletion or an export of your data, email us — we handle these manually and will confirm once it's done.
Third-party job sources
Job search results are pulled live from Adzuna, Remotive, and Arbeitnow. Clicking through to a job listing takes you to that source's own site, which has its own privacy practices.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the effective date above.
